Something New, Something Blue

Every little scratch in my carbon fibre kayak makes my stomach turn. My new favourite paddling spot offers plenty of barnicale laden, rocky shores to quickly turn the glossy black gelcoat of my Looksha Elite into the beaten condition of a 20 year old war canoe. I want to take my new kayaking hobby further but I do not want to beat up this beautiful boat in doing so.

The typical marketing found on the net often reads like this:

The P&H Delphin has been designed as use as a "play the sea" kayak, and basically what that means is that its perfectly at home in situations where a more traditional sea kayak might struggle. Surf breaks, over-falls, tidal races rock gardens these are the natural home to the Delphin.

Although there are other rough water kayaks available, fellow paddlers that have no skin in the game, have been emphatic about the love for their Delphins. I just purchased mine in blue!

What I like:
» Scratches in polyethelene have less emotional consequence.
» The seating system and thigh hooks fit me perfectly.
» I can stuff my gear plus 3 days worth of food inside.
» The small glovebox on the front deck rocks!
» It really does turn on a dime.

What I am on the fence regarding:
» The skeg spontaneously deployes on me from time to time.
» The footpegs feel soft and do not ensure confidence.
